SWARTHMORE, Pa. - The Haverford College baseball team (15-7, 4-0 CC) bounced back in a big way during a road with against rival Swarthmore (16-10, 0-4 CC) on Friday afternoon. The Fords garnered their third shutout of the season, a 10-0 defeat, triggered by combined scoreless outings from starting pitcher Justin Herring and reliever Patrick O'Shea. Offensively, both Ethan Lee-Tyson and Spencer Sohmer had four-hit days. With the win, Haverford clinches at least a share of the Hood Trophy with each of the remaining spring sports yet to battle the Garnet.

Herring earned his fifth win of the year, throwing 6.2 innings and striking out five batters in the process. The sophomore held the Garnet lineup hitless the first time through the order and gave up just four hits total. Herring also started the team's previous shutout, a 13-0 defeat of Johns Hopkins (April 2). He has now pitched 13.2 consecutive scoreless innings dating back to March 26 and holds a 1.23 ERA with 43 strikeouts in 38 innings this season.

O'Shea, who also helped combine with Herring for the Hopkins shutout, threw 2.1 frames in relief.

Lee-Tyson, who was batting out of the fifth spot in the lineup, reached base in all five plate appearances, going a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate with a walk. He also drove in two runs and scored one of his own. Sohmer was 4-for-5 with a double and three runs scored.

The Fords' Nos. 6-9 hitters batted a combined 11-for-17. Among them was designated hitter Sam Partee who blasted his first career home run, a three-run shot in the seventh, to break the game wide open. The freshman finished 3-for-4 with two runs and four RBI. He also doubled earlier in the game.

Haverford was originally scheduled to host Dickinson College for a doubleheader on Saturday. Those two games will now be played on Sunday, starting at 12:30 p.m. Game two will follow a half hour after.
