HAVERFORD, Pa. - The Haverford College baseball team (17-8, 6-1 CC) was outlasted in conference play in a matinee game against Centennial Conference opponent Muhlenberg College (13-12, 4-1 CC). The Fords led for most of the game but were overcome by the Mules after ten innings in a 6-2 final.

Haverford displayed stout pitching from starter Justin Herring, who ended his scoreless inning streak at 21.1 innings dating back to March 26. The crafty sophomore lasted 8.1 innings, giving up two earned runs, and received a no decision, leaving his undefeated record intact this season. Herring's ERA stands at a team-best 1.40. During his outing, he struck out five and walked just one.

The Fords wasted no time crossing the plate after a bases loaded walk was drawn by Matt Goss in the first inning to advance Ben Furlong. Muhlenberg starter Timmy Pilrum found his groove shortly thereafter and the teams went scoreless until the top of the eighth inning when the visitors tied the game.

In the bottom of the inning, Furlong displayed excellent base running to give the Fords their second run. After drawing a walk, he advanced to second on a wild pitch and eventually rounded third after an errant throw by the Mules.

Nick Ott, Spencer Sohmer, and Ben Verducci all recorded hits for the Fords, including two for Ott.

The Fords, who are 8-2 in their last 10 games, rematch Muhlenberg on the road this Friday. First pitch is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. They return home Saturday for a double header against No. 21 McDaniel College. Game one begins at 12:30 p.m.
