HAVERFORD, Pa. -- The Haverford College baseball team (18-10, 7-3 CC) split its Centennial Conference doubleheader with McDaniel College (23-7, 4-5 CC) on a beautiful spring day at Kannerstein Field. In the first game, starting pitcher Stephen Ridings one-hit the Green Terror in a 4-0 win. Ridings carried a perfect game into the fifth inning and a no hitter into the seventh. On the other end, designated hitter Nick Ott went 4-for-4 with two home runs and a double. Ott finished a triple shy of the cycle in the first game and he also hit his third homer of the day in the second game.

Ridings threw a perfect first four innings before allowing a base runner on a hit by pitch in the top of the fifth. The next McDaniel batter grounded into a double play, meaning Ridings no-hit the Green Terror and faced the minimum for the first 6.2 innings before allowing a single to right. That would be the only hit he allowed in the game, going the distance and striking out 11.

Providing some run support, Ott turned on a first pitch fastball to hit an opposite field blast off the scoreboard in right to break a scoreless tie in the second. Later in the inning, Sam Kane and Thomas Vollaro hit back-to-back doubles to score the Fords' second run.

Ott's home run was one of three solo shots for the team as he would hit another two innings later and Ethan Lee-Tyson would also hit one. Ott hit his third home run of the day in the second game, all three being solo shots.

Prior to the game, McDaniel starting pitcher Zach Kronick had allowed just three earned runs in his last six appearances.

Unfortunately, the Green Terror saved all their runs for the second game as Haverford fell 11-2. McDaniel scored six runs in the first three innings, including five in the third. Second baseman Zach Taylor drove in the Fords' first run on a sacrifice fly before Ott hit a solo home run to give them two.

Haverford will see game time next on Tuesday when the team travels to Ursinus for another Centennial Conference matchup. First pitch is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
