LANCASTER, Pa. -- The Haverford College baseball team defeated Franklin & Marshall College after drawing four walks in the 12th inning to score the game's decisive run. The game had been tied 2-2 since the seventh inning until third baseman Spencer Sohmer drew the walk to advance Ben Furlong from third base and score the team's third run. The Fords had defeated the Diplomats just days ago, picking up a 6-4 win at home on Monday.

With the win, head coach Dave Beccaria's team has clinched a Centennial Conference playoff berth for the ninth consecutive year and 12th time in 13 years.

Starter Grant Finn won what was mostly a pitcher's duel, going seven innings and allowing just two earned runs while punching out two along the way. In relief, George Hatamiya earned the win after he threw four innings for the second straight game. The senior didn't allow a run and struck out four in the process. John Miraglia came in for the save after getting out of a bases loaded jam with no outs.

Prior to drawing the game-winning walk, Sohmer had three hits on the day including a double. He finished 3-for-5 with an RBI.

Left fielder Matt Goss was 1-for-3 with the team's only other RBI in the game. In the fifth inning, his single scored Sam Partee after he doubled to give the Fords their first run of the game. Haverford scored again in the next inning when Ben Verducci doubled and then later advanced home on an error.

The Fords will wrap up their season with a home doubleheader on Saturday against Gettysburg, starting at 12:30 p.m.
