Herring Named to All-Mid-Atlantic Region Second Team

HAVERFORD, Pa. - Sophomore starting pitcher Justin Herring was named to the 2016 d3baseball.com All-Mid-Atlantic Region Second Team as announced by the website earlier today. Players were voted on by sports information directors at various schools.

Herring was as reliable as they come, posting the best ERA in the Centennial Conference this season at 1.58. His 67 punchouts ranked him fifth in the conference. He was also third in wins, sporting a perfect 7-0 record.

The Douglassville, Pa. native drew the start on opening day, a 9-4 win for the Fords over Dominican University during spring break in Florida. Herring finished the season with seven scoreless outings of five innings or more, including a seven shutout innings and 11 strikeouts against McDaniel in the opening round of the Centennial Conference playoffs.

Herring struck out 10 or more batters three times this season and walked more than three batters just once. He was named CC Pitcher of the Week (Mar. 21) after striking out 10 players in seven innings against St. John Fisher.

The sophomore was an integral part of Haverford's run to the NCAA Regional Tournament this season.
