Goss Named CC Baseball Player of the Week

HAVERFORD, Pa. – Haverford College baseball designated hitter and outfielder Matt Goss has been named the Centennial Conference Player of the Week after an impressive week at the plate, including a Sunday performance helped Haverford outscore McDaniel 27-7 during a doubleheader sweep at Kannerstein Field.

Goss scored a pair of runs in the Fords victory over then-no. 16 ranked TCNJ on Thursday in non-conference action as the Fords prevailed 7-3.

The Houston, Texas product got the start at designated hitter in both contests on Sunday, and made a mark on the box score throughout the day. In the first game, Goss launched a solo homer to lead off the the bottom of the second inning to help Haverford blank the Green Terror 10-0.

In game number two, Goss had two doubles, scored three runs, stole a base and hit a grand slam as the Fords powered past McDaniel 17-9. Goss set a new career-high with 5 RBI in the contest.

Overall on the week, Goss went 4-9 with six RBI, six runs scored, two doubles, two homers and 12 total bases. He slugged 1.333 and got on base at a .643 clip. The junior was also a perfect 3-3 in steal attempts.

Goss and the rest of the Fords are slated to resume Centennial Conference action on Tuesday, April 4 at home against Ursinus. First pitch is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. at Kannerstein Field.
