Michael Schwarze Named CC Player of the Week

HAVERFORD, Pa. – Haverford senior outfielder Michael Schwarze has been named the Centennial Conference Player of the Week, the conference office announced in a release on Monday afternoon. Schwzarze garners the award after an impressive offensive display in a doubleheader sweep of McDaniel on Saturday afternoon.

In just his first full season as a position player, the Ladue, Mo. product hit .438 with an .813 slugging percentage, tallying 8 RBIs and four extra base hits on the week.

In a wild doubleheader sweep against McDaniel, Schwarze went a combined 6-10 with three doubles and a home run in 10 at bats as the Fords played just 14 innings of baseball due to the second game being called in five due to darkness. Schwarze's six RBIs in the first game of the day against the Green Terror is tied for the third most in a single game in program history.

Earlier this season, Schwarze tied a program record with a five-hit game against NYU as the Fords took down the Violets. In addition, Schwarze's 10 total bases in that game are tied for the fourth most in program single-game history. Schwarze has emerged as a prominent power threat in the Haverford lineup. He is currently batting a team-high .393 with a team-best three home runs and a .661 slugging percentage. Schwarze has also roped six doubles and has 37 total bases on the year.

The Fords are back in action this week as they take to the road to face off with Ursinus on Tuesday, April 3 at 3:30 p.m. before matching up with the Bears at home on Friday, April 6. First pitch for that contest is also slated for 3:30 p.m. on Kannerstein Field. Haverford then heads to Franklin & Marshall for a Centennial Conference doubleheader on Saturday.
