FORT MYERS, Fla. - The Haverford College baseball team (2-4) posted its second win of the season on Wednesday at the Gene Cusic Collegiate Classic, as four pitchers combined to shut down the Rams of North Central (Minn.) (0-5) in a matinee at Terry Park.

Haverford notched only three hits on the day, but the Fords were able to score four first inning runs en route to the victory as Mitchell Pagano, Justin McAllister, Aidan O'Sullivan, and Ethan Goldstein combined for 11 strikeouts and surrendered just seven hits. Pagano, the pitcher of record, earned the win in the designated bullpen game.

After Pagano twirled a scoreless opening frame, Haverford plated its four early runs in the first inning. Harry Genth got on base via a walk, and came in to score on an error that came on a failed pick-off attempt. Daniel Rosman reached on an error and Jonny Flieder walked, as the two eventually scored on a Jack Wallis single into right field, as suddenly Haverford was out to a 3-0 lead. Jordan Shand walked and Mauro DeCillis was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to plate a fourth run in his collegiate debut.

Daniel Rosman doubled to lead off the second and stole second, but was stranded at third. Haverford added a pair in the third inning as Zach Landry and Oliver Bergeron each walked to begin the inning and Pranav Rane reached on an infield single to load the bases with nobody out. Shand walked with the bases loaded, and DeCillis contributed an RBI groundout as Haverford pushed two more across to go ahead 6-0.

Pitcher Cole Graham helped his own cause with a two-RBI single in the fourth inning, pulling the Rams a bit closer, but McAllister was called upon to get out of the inning, as he tossed 1.2 innings of one-hit ball, striking out three. McAllister eventually gave way to Aidan O'Sullivan, who twirled three frames, surrendering just two hits and striking out five North Central hitters. Goldstein came into the contest with the tying run on deck and one out in the ninth, securing his first career save with a scoreless two-thirds of an inning.

Teagan Burch was tagged with the loss for the Rams, and was lifted after two innings. The final three pitchers of the day for North Central combined for six no-hit innings with six strikeouts.

Haverford now returns to action tomorrow, with a noon first pitch on the docket against Bluffton (Ohio) at Terry Park.
