COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. - The Haverford College baseball team (11-12, 1-2 CC) pounced on the host Ursinus Bears Tuesday afternoon (9-5, 1-2 CC), putting up an offensive onslaught with 14 runs and 17 hits to prevail in the midweek matinee by a 14-2 final score.

Daniel Rosman had a 4-for-5 day from the top of the order, scoring three runs, while Harry Genth also added a three-hit, three-run performance in the second slot. Jonny Flieder did damage with two hits, including a three-run homer and a double, to notch five total RBI. Sam Cohen was masterful on the mound, picking up his third win of the season with six innings of four-hit ball, striking out eight. Wyatt Mattison and August Williams combined for the final two innings, surrendering just two hits between the pair and striking out five.

The Fords put up a crooked number in the second inning to take a large early advantage. With two out, Zach Becker singled and Chuck Norton walked. Pranav Rane poked a single to left center, scoring Becker. Rosman then walked, and Genth reached first on an error that plated an additional two runs. Flieder then hammered a three-run homer into deep left field to put the Fords up 6-0 in the early goings.

Ursinus pulled a run back in the third on an RBI single from designated hitter Nick Diaz, but Rosman and Genth each singled to lead off the fourth inning, and after a wild pitch advanced the pair into scoring position, Kyle Beach reached on a throwing error with two out, as Rosman and Genth each scurried home for an 8-1 lead.

Singles from Becker, Pranav Rane, and Rosman plated a quick run in the fifth before Genth rapped another single and Flieder delivered a sacrifice fly to put the Fords up 10-1. A seventh inning rally saw Haverford tack on three more runs to that ledger. Rosman reached on a bunt single and advanced into scoring position on a wild pitch. Genth walked, and Flieder then drilled an RBI double into right center to score Genth and Rosman. Jack Wallis followed with a single through the right side of the infield, and Beach knocked one down the right field line as suddenly the Fords were up 13-1. A couple of walks and a wild pitch set the tone for Zach Becker's RBI groundout in the ninth, representing Haverford's 14th and final run of the afternoon.

The pitching did well to keep the Bears in check, as Cohen delivered a 1-2-3 frame in the fifth and worked around a baserunner in the sixth to hand the ball off to the bullpen. Haverford's 13 strikeouts as a pitching staff matched the most this season, a feat that was also achieved twice in Florida: March 7 against Muskingum and March 11 against Baruch.

Haverford now returns to action at home on Friday, taking on the very same Bears at Kannerstein Field, with first pitch slated for 3:30 p.m. to wrap up the home-and-home series.
