HAVERFORD, Pa. - The Haverford College baseball team (10-9, 0-2 CC) dropped a Centennial Conference doubleheader to No. 15 Johns Hopkins on Saturday at Kannerstein Field, as the Blue Jays (14-6, 2-0 CC) claimed a 12-3 victory in the first game before securing a 10-1 win in game two.

Game 1: #15 Johns Hopkins 12, Haverford 3

Game one unfolded as a pitchers' duel between Haverford ace Mike Rabayda and Johns Hopkins' go-to starter Kieren Collins. Rabayda started strong, tallying a pair of strikeouts in the first frame. He continued with three strikeouts in the second but faced trouble in the third inning when Dylan Whitney singled to lead off and Alex Shane followed with a two-run homer, giving the Blue Jays an early lead.

In the bottom of the third, Mauro DeCillis was hit by a pitch and advanced into scoring position on a wild pitch. After DeCillis moved to third on a groundout, Harry Genth lifted a sacrifice fly to bring in Haverford's first run, narrowing the gap to one run.

Rabayda maneuvered out of a bases-loaded situation in the fourth inning, while Collins retired the Fords in order on the other rend. Rabayda, who tallied 11 strikeouts in the game, struck out the side again in the fifth.

Collins, though not as strikeout-minded, matched Rabayda's performance with a flawless fifth inning. In the sixth, Rabayda notched his 11th strikeout but surrendered a three-run homer to Isaiah Winikur, ending his outing. Home runs from Caleb Cyr, Shawn Steuerer, and Jimmy Stevens extended the Blue Jays' lead to 9-1 before a DeCillis double in the seventh brought two runs back for Haverford. Three bases-loaded walks added three more runs for Johns Hopkins.

Rabayda pitched 5.2 innings, allowing six hits and striking out 11. Jack Greff impressed in relief, striking out two in the ninth. Collins earned the win, pitching seven innings and allowing four hits while striking out five.

Kendrick Curry II led Haverford with two singles, while Stevens led Johns Hopkins with three hits and Winikur contributed four RBIs.

Game 2: #15 Johns Hopkins 9, Haverford 1

In game two, the Fords sent Riley Grohowski to the mound against Quinn Rovner of the Blue Jays. Johns Hopkins scored two runs in the first inning as a walk served as a prelude to a home run by Caleb Cyr. Stevens added a homer in the second, and Dillon Souvignier drove in a run with a single in the third. Shane's three-run homer in the fourth prompted Haverford to replace Grohowski on the mound with Adam Naegelen.

Curry hit a two-out double in the fifth for Haverford's first hit, and Naegelen pitched a perfect sixth inning. Drew Doyle navigated a single in the scoreless seventh, but Winikur launched his second homer of the day in the eighth.

Haverford scored a run in the eighth against reliever William Boneno, with DeCillis stealing third and setting up Jonny Flieder's sacrifice fly. Johns Hopkins added another run in the ninth, but despite loading the bases, Haverford couldn't score in the bottom of the ninth, sealing the victory for Johns Hopkins.

Rovner pitched seven innings, allowing four hits and striking out four. Naegelen and Aidan O'Sullivan pitched hitless innings in relief for Haverford. Whitney had three hits for Johns Hopkins in game two, while Shane led with three RBIs.

Haverford will continue Centennial Conference play on Tuesday, April 2 hosting Ursinus at 3:30 p.m. The contest will be part of Haverford's Division III Week, with Play with Pride and Green Out for Mental Health Awareness celebrations before the first pitch.
