Second half rally leads Fords past Dips

LANCASTER, Pa. - Trailing at halftime the Haverford College field hockey team responded with a flurry of early second half goals in a 3-1 Centennial Conference victory over host Franklin & Marshall College Saturday afternoon.

Just 65 seconds into the second stanza, Haverford's Margaret Selsor deflected teammate Alex Waleko's shot past F&M goalie Sarah Dileo to erase a 1-0 halftime deficit.

Five minutes later the Fords' Josie Ferri finished off a give and go from Mary Hobbs to put Haverford (5-8, 3-3 CC) ahead, and then Juliana Morgan-Trostle added one more goal in the Scarlet and Black's 10-minute offensive explosion.

Franklin & Marshall (6-7, 2-5 CC) outshot the Fords, 7-6, in the opening half but Haverford turned the tables in the second stanza with a dominating 14-3 advantage in shots.

Maggie Cronin picked up the win in goal for the Fords making five saves while the Diplomats' Dileo took the loss after registering eight saves. Both goalies successfully defended one penalty stroke by the other team.

Haverford will remain on the road for its next contest, a league match-up against Washington College Wednesday afternoon.
