Gibbons' goal leads to conference honor in field hockey

LANCASTER, Pa. – It was her only goal of the week but it may have been the biggest of the season (so far) for the Fords as Bridget Gibbons' tally not only gave Haverford a victory over ninth-ranked Johns Hopkins Saturday afternoon but also helped the freshman earn the league's Offensive Player of the Week Award as announced by the Centennial Conference office on Monday afternoon.

Gibbons' tally, the only goal of the second half, pushed the Fords in front, 3-2, and allowed Haverford to defeat Hopkins for the first time in exactly 11 years. On October 3, 1998, the Blue Jays fell to the host Scarlet and Black by a 4-3 score.
