Cronin earns season's final player of the week award in field hockey

LANCASTER, Pa. – The Centennial Conference has released the final player of the week awards for the 2010 field hockey season naming Haverford College senior goalkeeper Maggie Cronin its defensive honoree.

Over the weekend Cronin helped push the Fords into their first conference championship game with an eight-save effort Saturday in a 6-2 semifinal win over Johns Hopkins University.

Cronin, in her final collegiate game, then posted a career-high 24 saves against third-ranked Ursinus College in the championship tilt, setting a new conference tournament single-game record.

With her combined 32 saves over two games, Cronin also climbs to the top of the conference tournament record board in cumulative saves.

Saturday's win over Hopkins lifted Cronin's program-best career wins total to 29, and her 12 wins between the pipes for the Fords this season sets a new single-season high.
