Field hockey nets pair of weekly honors from Centennial Conference

LANCASTER, Pa. – A pair of Fords from the Haverford College field hockey team garnered Player of the Week honors from the Centennial Conference as announced by the league office Monday afternoon.

Senior forward Alex Waleko was a co-offensive player of the week and senior goalie Maggie Cronin nabbed the defensive honor.

Waleko scored both of Haverford's goals in its upset win at 8th-ranked Eastern University Thursday afternoon. The day prior she scored twice and added a pair of assists in the Fords' home victory over Bryn Mawr College. Her four goal, two assist week adds to her leads in goals (36) and points (92) on Haverford's career lists. Monday's honor was the second time Waleko has been tabbed for player of the week honors after earning the same award Sept. 27 of this season.

Ursinus College's Jennifer Bayzick shared Monday's offensive honor with Waleko.

Cronin reached double-digits in saves during the Fords' upset of Eastern. Her 10 saves in the game was the third time this season the net minder has reached double-figures in stops. Cronin also started the game in goal the day before in Haverford's shut out victory over Bryn Mawr. Cronin's two wins in the week put her just four shy of the program's career wins (27) leader.
