Strong second half leads field hockey to 7-0 win over Knights

ASTON, Pa. – The Haverford College field hockey team started slow, but finished strong in Monday's 7-0 victory at Neumann University. Despite taking 22 shots in the first half the Fords led just 1-0 at halftime, but poured on six goals in the second stanza.

Roxanne Jaffe got Haverford (4-2) on the board on a penalty stroke in the 34th minute. The Fords wasted little time starting the scoring in the second half as Juliana Morgan-Trostle's goal four minutes in gave HC some breathing room.

Morgan-Trostle added another tally while Alex Waleko scored the last two goals of the half. Bryn Bissey scored her first collegiate goal in the 47th minute. Jaffe assisted on three goals to finish the day with five points.

The Fords outshot Neumann (0-8), 47-5, for the game and did not allow the Knights to get a single shot on goal. Haverford also held a distinct 22-2 advantage in penalty corners.

Haverford gets back to Centennial Conference play this Saturday as they host Gettysburg College at noon.
