Waleko named Centennial's offensive player of the week in field hockey

LANCASTER, Pa. – Senior forward Alex Waleko of the Haverford College field hockey team was named the Centennial Conference Offensive Player of the Week as announced by the league office Monday afternoon.

Waleko notched five goals and added an important assist in a 2-0 week for the Fords (5-2, 1-1 CC) who defeated league rival Gettysburg College Saturday afternoon for the first time in history.

Last Monday Waleko scored twice in a 7-0 Haverford victory over host Neumann University climbing to the top rung of the program ladder in career points (73) while also moving into a tie for the top spot in career goals (29).

She scored the team's first two goals Saturday against Gettysburg — taking over the career goals lead for the Fords — later added a third, then earned the assist on teammate Juliana Morgan-Trostle's game-winner with 1:01 to play in the contest.

The team co-captain, whose 11 goals so far are her single-season best, now has 32 goals and 80 points in her career.
