Win over Muhlenberg increases field hockey victory string to four

ALLENTOWN, Pa. – Margaret Selsor netted what turned out to be the winning goal and both Bryn Bissey and Juliana Morgan-Trostle added two goals apiece in Haverford College's 5-1 victory over host Muhlenberg College Tuesday night in Centennial Conference field hockey action.

The victory was the fourth in a row for the Fords (4-1, 2-0 CC) while the Mules drop to 1-5 overall and 0-2 within league play.

Muhlenberg opened the scoring with a goal at the eight-minute mark but Morgan-Trostle fielded a rebound from teammate Molly Braun's shot a little less than four minutes later and scored her third of the year to pull Haverford even.

Selsor banged home the eventual game-winner in the 30th minute, recovering a rebound from a Morgan-Trostle shot off a penalty corner to push the Fords in front for good.

Bissey scored twice, seven minutes apart, during second-half action and Morgan-Trostle added her second of the game with a little more than four minutes to play.

Haverford's defense allowed a total of seven shots on goal but only one of those came in the second half. Fords goalkeeper Sydney Hyder picked up the win making six saves while Muhlenberg netminder Kristen Dornenburg registered 14 saves and got some help from her teammates who added three defensive saves.

Another road trip is next up for the Fords who will travel to Lebanon Valley College for a non-conference match-up Thursday afternoon. The Dutchmen women are 3-3 on the year but have won three straight.
