Centennial Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll

HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Haverford College field hockey team was selected to finish seventh with 46 voting points in the 2015 Centennial Conference coaches' preseason poll. Coaches were not allowed to vote for their own team.

Two-time defending conference champion Ursinus had nine first-place votes and led the poll with 99 points. Franklin and Marshall, who has been to the Centennial Conference Championship four straight years, had the other two first-place tallies (92 points). Johns Hopkins was the third-highest ranked team (75 points) among the coaches, followed by Dickinson (67 points), Washington College (64 points), and Muhlenberg (59 points). Gettysburg, McDaniel, Swarthmore and Bryn Mawr finished behind Haverford in the poll.

Paige Carson is the top returning scorer for the Fords with five goals and three assists during the 2014 campaign. Defender Allison Martin was an All-Centennial Conference second team member while Stephanie Terrell was All-Centennial Conference honorable mention. Goalkeeper Lindsey Lopes also returns after setting career highs in shutouts (two), saves (99) and save percentage (.756) last season.

The Fords will have to replace a valuable group of graduates in Jacque Fagan, Catherine Aronowitz, Jen DiMaria and Brooke Kelly, who went to three Centennial Conference tournaments and a conference final. DiMaria finished sixth all-time in goals (29) and eight in points (68) while Aronowitz was 11th in program history in points (63) and games played (72). Fagan was a two-time National Field Hockey Coaches' Association Academic Squad member while Kelly was a two-time team captain.

The field hockey team is looking for its sixth Centennial Conference tournament appearance in seven years. Haverford will welcome Cabrini to Swan Field for the 2015 season opener on Sept. 1. Centennial Conference play gets underway with a home game vs. Dickinson on Sept. 19.
