HAVERFORD, Pa. – Senior captain Sarah Waldis of the Haverford College field hockey team was selected as the Centennial Conference Offensive Player of the Week today, the league announced. It's the first time that the senior has been honored as player of the week.

In the Fords' 7-0 win over Immaculata last Tuesday, Waldis recorded the first multi-goal game of her career with two goals on a career-best 10 shots. She also added an assist in the contest, setting a career high with five points.

Waldis helped Haverford to a 5-1 win in its Centennial Conference opener vs. Dickinson on Saturday. The midfielder also had an assist, giving her multi-point outings in two straight games and four of the Fords' six games this year. Haverford defeated Dickinson for the first time since 2012 and just the sixth time in 23 games all-time.

The senior has 14 points this year which ranks in a tie for fourth in the conference. Waldis' previous high in points was three in 2012 and 2014. She is the first Ford to be named player of the week since senior Allison Martin was a two-time winner of the defensive award last year. Haverford has had at least one player win player of the week in each of the past seven seasons.

Head coach Jackie Cox's squad is 4-2 on the season and has won four straight contests at Swan Field. The Fords will travel to Misericordia on Wednesday with the game time scheduled for 7 p.m.
