HAVERFORD, Pa. – Sophomore Elena Veale of the Haverford College field hockey team was selected as the Centennial Conference Offensive Player of the Week today, the conference announced. It's Veale second weekly award this season.

Veale got her stellar week started with a goal and two assists in Haverford's 7-0 win over Bryn Mawr last Wednesday. On Saturday vs. McDaniel, the sophomore registered a hat trick to help the Fords clinch its sixth Centennial Conference playoff berth in the last seven seasons. Haverford has won at least 10 games in five of head coach Jackie Cox's six seasons.

The sophomore's hat trick set a new bench mark in goals (12) and points (26). The banner day put her in a tie for sixth in the conference in goals and eighth in points. Veale's goal in the ninth minute of the first half was her fourth game-winning tally of the year, one shy of the program high for a season.

Veale also nabbed the Player of the Week award on October 5th after securing the only goals for the Fords the week before. She is the first player to be honored as Offensive Player of the Week twice in a season since Alex Waleko '11 in 2010.

The field hockey team is 10-5 overall and 6-2 in conference play. The Fords are in fourth place behind No. 4 Franklin and Marshall (8-0), No. 6 Ursinus (8-1) and Muhlenberg (7-2). Haverford holds the tiebreaker over Muhlenberg for the No. 3 spot if the two teams finish with the same record. The Fords wrap up the regular season this week at Washington College on Wednesday (7:00 p.m.) and vs. Swarthmore on Saturday (12 p.m.).
