Field Hockey Has Four Named to All-CC Teams

Centennial Conference Release

HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Haverford College field hockey team had four members picked for the All-Centennial Conference teams, the conference announced today. The team had seniors Sarah Waldis, Allison Martin selected to all-conference first team while sophomore Elena Veale made All-CC second team. Sophomore Stephanie Terrell was named to the All-Sportsmanship team.

This is the first time that the Fords had two members on the All-CC first team since Bridget Gibbons '13 and Mary Hobbs '13 in 2012. Haverford has 12 Centennial Conference first team players in its history.

Waldis had a banner senior campaign as she set new career highs in goals (nine), assists (five) and points (23). The captain of the field hockey team had tallies in eight games this season, registering her first career multi-goal outing in a 7-0 victory over Immaculata (Sept. 15). This is Waldis' second All-Centennial Conference accolade as she was a second-team member in 2013. The senior also made the Centennial Conference Fall Academic Honor Roll for the third time and was the recipient of the conference's Scholar-Athlete Award, given to the junior or senior on the all-conference team that has the highest cumulative GPA.

Martin added two assists and two defensive saves to help the Fords return to the Centennial Conference playoffs after a one-year absence. The senior is a three-time conference Defender of the Week award winner including once this season (Oct. 5). This is Martin's second appearance on the All-CC team as she was nominated for the second team last season. Just like Waldis, the defender has been on the Centennial Conference Fall Academic Honor Roll three straight times.

Veale registered personal bests in goals (13), assists (two) and points (28). The sophomore placed seventh in the conference in goals and ninth in points. Her first career hat trick vs. McDaniel help clinch the team a playoff berth (Oct. 24). She also scored four game-winning tallies which is tied for second in program history.

Terrell improved her point total from last season, securing two goals and an assist. The sophomore was an All-CC second team player in 2014-15. She scored her goals in back-to-back games at Eastern (Sept. 9) and vs. Lebanon Valley (Sept. 12).

Ursinus' Megan Keenan was elected as the Player of the Year for the third straight season. She is the first player in conference history to receive All-Centennial first team four times. Emily Davis of Muhlenberg was the conference Rookie of the Year while Franklin and Marshall's Missy Mariano was the Coach of the Year.

Haverford finished 11-7 in 2015, making the Centennial Conference playoffs for the sixth time in the last seven seasons. The Fords have won at least 10 games in five of head coach Jackie Cox's six seasons.
