Centennial Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll

HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Haverford College field hockey team was selected to finish third with 73 points in the 2016 Centennial Conference coaches' preseason poll, the conference office announced on Thursday morning. The ranking was determined solely by a vote of the conference head coaches. Coaches were not allowed to vote for their own squads.

Ursinus was picked to defend its 2015 crown (99 points, nine first place votes) while Franklin & Marshall (92, two first place votes) was picked second after securing the number one seed and hosting privileges during the 2015 Centennial Championship. The Fords finished one point above fourth place Muhlenberg (72) while Dickinson rounded out the top five with 68 points.

The Fords went 11-7 in 2015 and the squad is looking for its seventh Centennial Conference tournament appearance in eight years after falling in the semifinals to second seed and eventual champion Ursinus a season ago. The Fords return four of their top five scorers from the 2015 campaign. Elena Veale and Paige Carson will look upon their playoff experience and offensive production to get back into the Centennial Conference Tournament in 2016.

Haverford will travel to Cabrini for the 2016 season opener on Sept. 1. Centennial Conference play gets underway with a home game vs. Dickinson on Sept. 14.
