HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Haverford College field hockey team fell in its non-conference finale, 3-0, to No. 16 Rowan on Saturday afternoon at Swan Field. Haverford received a standout performance from goalkeeper Danielle Rette who made a career-best 13 saves while her backline also chipped in three defensive saves. The Fords fall to 4-4 on the season while Rowan is now 7-2 through its first nine contests.

Rowan got on the scoreboard in the fourth minute of action as Jacqui Rosati dribbled into the circle and fired a quick shot past Rette. The Profs benefited from five first half corners, taking 13 shots in the first 35 minutes of action. In the 17th minute, Haverford had an outstanding scoring chance as Mason McNulty had only the keeper to beat on a solo breakway, but her shot sailed just wide of the goal mouth. In the 23rd minute, Caroline Aronowitz made a defensive save on a Bridget Boyle shot, keeping the Profs off the scoreline with a heroic stop. The Profs eventually did extend the halftime lead to 2-0 in the 28th minute as Rosati again tallied unassisted, spinning around in the circle and charging a shot into goal.

Rowan earned five penalty corners in the first seven minutes of action in the second half, and scored from the open field in the 52nd as Bridget Boyle took a pass from Nikki Kotelnicki outside the circle and dribbled a few steps in, missing Rette towards the left side of the cage for a 3-0 lead.

Natalie Leslie extended her NCAA defensive saves lead with her eighth and ninth of the season in the 57th and 59th minute of play. The second of the pair involved striking down a shot that sailed over Rette and seemed destined for the back of the cage.  The Fords kept the offensive pressure on in the waning minutes of action, with a McNulty shot attempt stopped by Rowan's Carly DeMarco and two consecutive penalty corners in the 68th and 69th going fruitless, including a Leslie shot sent in that just missed a redirection from McNulty that would have given the Fords a tally. The Rowan defense was able to keep the intensity up in the Fords scoring area, clearing the ball as the final seconds ticked off the scoreboard.

McNulty led the Fords with four shots while Leslie and Stephanie Terrell each had a pair. Haverford was outshot 21-10 in the contest and the Profs also out-cornered the hosts 15-6. Boyle, Rosati and Courtney Aquino each fired four shots. DeMarco picked up her seventh win with a five save effort.

Haverford now opens up the home portion of the Centennial Conference schedule with a match up against Muhlenberg, a team receiving votes in the latest NFHCA Division III Poll. The game is slated for 7:00 p.m. and represents the first home game under the lights in 2016.
