Danielle Rette Named CC Defensive Player of the Week

Centennial Conference Release

HAVERFORD, Pa. – Danielle Rette has been named the Centennial Conference Defensive Player of the Week after a shutout win against Johns Hopkins on Friday night. The honor is the first of Rette's career and second weekly honor for the Fords this season as Paige Carson was named the Centennial Conference Offensive Player of the Week on September 12.

Rette was called on to make five saves in a huge 1-0 win for Haverford. The victory moved the Fords (6-7, 2-4 CC) to within a single win of McDaniel and Gettysburg for the final Centennial Conference playoff spot. The Fords have already beaten Gettysburg earlier this month and will play McDaniel this coming weekend on the team's Senior Day.

The Fords' junior goalkeeper made four of her five saves in the second half with her final two stops coming in the last two minutes of regulation as Johns Hopkins was pushing for the equalizer. Rette and her defense also successfully defended eight penalty corner chances for the Blue Jays as she recorded her third shutout of the season. Rette currently ranks third in the Centennial Conference with 72 saves this season.

The hunt for a Centennial Conference postseason bid will continue this week. Up first, the Fords will make the quick trip over to Bryn Mawr to battle the neighbor Owls in a 4 p.m. start. Saturday's aforementioned game with McDaniel is set for a 12 p.m. start and will also be Senior Day for the Fords.
