Rette Takes Second Straight CC Defensive Player Of The Week Honors

HAVERFORD, Pa. – Danielle Rette has been named the Centennial Conference Defensive Player of the Week for the second consecutive week, earning the honors after a shutout against Bryn Mawr and a 10-save effort against McDaniel on Saturday in a home victory over the Green Terror. The award represents the third overall weekly honor for the Fords this season as Paige Carson also took home Centennial Conference Offensive Player of the Week on September 12.

Against McDaniel, The junior was called on to make nine of her 10 saves during the final 35 minutes of action, giving the Fords (8-7, 4-4 CC) a key 4-1 win in the Centennial Conference clash against the Green Terror (4-11, 3-5 CC). Rette anchored a backline that withstood five second-half penalty corners and 12 second-half shots as McDaniel fought to claw back into the contest.

Rette, in her first full season of action as the starting goalkeeper for Haverford, has recorded four shutouts and held opponents to just a 1.86 goals against average during the 2016 campaign thus far. Rette's 82 saves is third in the Centennial Conference while her .752 save percentage if good for fourth.

Haverford sits in a tie for fifth in the conference, but owns a key tiebreaker over Gettysburg by future of a 1-0 home win over the Bullets in October and thus controls its own postseason destiny. The Fords continue the chase for a Centennial Conference postseason spot with the home finale under the lights against Washington College at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The contest is the annual Think Pink game on Swan Field. The Fords will then travel to Swarthmore for the regular season closer in a Hood Trophy matchup slated for noon.
