HAVERFORD, Pa. – After an inspiring run to the conference semifinals in 2017, the field hockey coaches of the Centennial Conference believe that Haverford is poised for a fourth consecutive trip to the postseason in 2018.

The Fords were picked to finish fourth in the Centennial Conference with 65 total voting points. The ranking was determined solely by a vote of the conference head coaches and coaches were not allowed to vote for their own teams.

Franklin & Marshall was picked to defend its conference crown, taking home seven first-place votes (97 overall points). Johns Hopkins, the conference's regular season champion a season ago, was slated second with the remaining four first-place votes (89 points).  Ursinus was tabbed third (86 points).

Following Haverford in the annual prognostication is Washington College (60 points), Dickinson (55 points), Gettysburg (54 points), Muhlenberg (41 points), Swarthmore (25 points), Bryn Mawr (20 points) and McDaniel (13 points).

Last season, The Fords finished the season 11-8 (5-4 CC), reaching the Centennial Conference playoffs for the eighth time in the last nine seasons after winning four straight contests to round out the regular season. Haverford has won at least 10 games in seven of head coach Jackie Cox's eight seasons at the helm.

Co-captain Mason McNulty will return for her senior season as a top goal scoring threat while Rachel Gordon and co-captain Caroline Aronowitz will both return for their junior seasons after earning All-Centennial accolades for strong midfield and backline play, respectively. The Fords return the majority of their scoring offense to the 2018 squad, with 34 goals from returning players.

The Fords open up the 2018 campaign on August 31 at Cabrini. The Centennial Conference season begins with a road contest at Muhlenberg on September 19.
