HAVERFORD, Pa. - Lightning and severe thunderstorms in the Delaware Valley forced the stoppage of the non-conference field hockey contest between Haverford and Misericordia on Wednesday evening at Swan Field.
The game was halted with just under 25 minutes left to play in regulation. Misericordia jumped out to an early 1-0 lead with a goal in the sixth minute of action. Haverford owned a slight 4-3 advantage in shots while each team drew four penalty corners.
The game will not be completed. The Fords (4-3, 0-2 CC) will now march on in Centennial Conference play as Haverford heads to Baltimore to face No. 17 Johns Hopkins in a rematch of last season's Centennial Conference semifinal. The first pass is slated for 5 p.m. at Homewood Field.
