HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Haverford College men's fencing team continued its unblemished season at home with a pair of wins at the Haverford Invitational. The Fords improved to a perfect 6-0 inside the Andy Kates Fencing Salle on the year with another impressive showing in front of the home fans.

In the first round, the Fords faced off against their Tri-Co rivals, Swarthmore. From the opening touch, Haverford took the action to the Garnet en route to their first of two 24-3 victories. Haverford's strongest weapon against rival Swarthmore was a 9-0 sweep of the foil bouts despite the absence of co-captain Aldis Gamble.

The Fords' epeeists were also up to the test with an 8-1 victory, while the sabrists took seven of the nine bouts to help solidify a strong opening team performance. Freshman Gabriel Braun was Haverford's most efficient and effective fencer during the rivalry match. Contesting sabre, Braun was touched just three times during his perfect 3-0 start to the afternoon.

Haverford also took on another local competitor in Drexel after sitting out the middle round of action. Despite the break, Haverford was just as effective as the team again emerged victorious by a 24-3 score. Each of the Fords' three weapons added equally to the victory as the team won eight of the nine bouts across all three weapon squads.

The Haverford Invitational closed out the competition for the fall semester for the men's fencing team. The Fords will come back together after the winter break in anticipation of the spring semester schedule. When they return to competition, the first bouts they will face come at the always challenging Penn State Invitational on Saturday, January 16.
