WALTHAM, Mass. – The Haverford College men's fencing team competed in the Sollee Invitational at Brandeis University this past Saturday. Although the team as a whole was unable to pull off any victories against the best teams in the Northeast Region, the sabre squad and a couple individuals pulled some stellar upsets.

Highlighting the all-freshmen sabre squad's success were wins against Brown, MIT, and Brandeis. The sabre trio was comprised on Gabriel Braun, David Parker and Henry Li.

Sabrist Braun led all fencers on the day with a 13-5 record. Close behind was co-captain epeeist Eric Gardner at 12-6 in the epee competition. Parker also had a winning record on the day for sabre at 10-8. Freshman Edward Ogborn showed a strong foundation with six wins in epee, including going undefeated against Brown.

Men's fencing will return to the strips for conference action this weekend at the MACFA Tournament on Sunday, February 7. Johns Hopkins will serve as the host site for this weekend's competition.
