Fresh off a conference championship weekend that helped earn Haverford College men's lacrosse goalkeeper Joe Banno the Centennial Conference Defensive Player of the Week award, the sophomore netminder was selected Tuesday as the InsideLacrosse.com Nike Player of the Week.

Banno's efforts during the conference tournament included a 14-save game against fifth-ranked Dickinson College in a double-overtime semifinal win, followed by a 15-save outing against No. 2 Gettysburg College which entered the championship final as the league's highest scoring offense as well as the nation's 20th-ranked attack.

Earlier this season teammate Max Hjelm also earned the Nike Player of the Week honor (3/03/10) and, like Banno, picked up the league's Weekly honor but on the offensive side of the field.

The Fords captured their first conference tournament title with Sunday's 11-8 win over Gettysburg securing an automatic bid into the NCAA tournament in which they'll be playing for the third consecutive season.
