Fords earn first-round bye in NCAA men's lacrosse tournament

INDIANAPOLIS – The Haverford College men's lacrosse team has seen its automatic bid into the 2010 NCAA Division III Tournament turn into an opening round bye in the bracket released by the NCAA late Sunday night.

The Fords will play in a second round game Saturday, May 15, getting the winner of the Dickinson College (14-2) versus Ohio Wesleyan University (10-3) match-up from Wednesday, May 12.

Joining Haverford and Dickinson from the Centennial Conference in the national party is Gettysburg College (15-2) which, like the Fords, was also granted a first round bye.

Haverford closed out the regular season on a four-game win streak and captured the conference tournament title—and automatic bid—with wins over then-No. 5 Dickinson, 12-11 2OT, and then-No. 2 Gettysburg by a score of 11-8 in the championship finale.

All games in the national tournament will be played at host sites of the competing teams except for the championship game which will take place Sunday, May 30, at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore, Md.
