LANCASTER, Pa. – Haverford College goalkeeper Joe Banno was named the Centennial Conference's men's lacrosse defensive player of the week as announced by the league office Monday afternoon.
Banno, a junior, turned away 19 of 24 shots on goal as the No. 7 Fords held off 14th-ranked and host Cabrini College, 6-5, Saturday afternoon. He came up with 10 saves in a wild first period keeping Haverford in the game, then closed out the win with six saves in the final 15 minutes as the Fords clung to a one-goal margin.
After nearly 1,900 minutes in the cage since earning the starting nod in his freshman campaign, Banno has posted a career goals against average of 8.10 per game which ranks first on the program's all-time list.
