Hjelm, Gregory named to USILA North-South all-star game rosters

PERRY, N.Y. – Haverford College seniors Travis Gregory and Max Hjelm have been honored with selections to the south team roster of the 69th Annual United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association/LaxWorld Division III North-South Senior All-Star Game which will be played Friday, May 27 at 3 p.m. in Baltimore, Md., on the campus of Goucher College.

The Haverford pair will be joined on the south roster, coached by Franklin & Marshall College head coach Todd Cavallaro, by four other Centennial Conference players.

Gregory (midfielder) and Hjelm (attack) were both tabbed USILA honrable mention all-Americans as well as USILA Scholar all-Americans Monday afternoon.

Hjelm is a three-time all-American who led the Centennial in game-winning goals this spring with six. The three-time first-team all-conference player was also the Fords' leading scorer with 24 goals and 34 points. Hjelm, from Devon, Pa., finished his Haverford career second in goals (156) and fourth in points (215) among the program's all-time statistical leaders.

Gregory, voted first-team all-Centennial this spring for the second consecutive season, led the Fords with 19 assists and chipped in with 12 goals for a total of 31 points, third-most on the team. The Bishopville, Md., native tallied one game-winning goal in 2011 and earned the assist on three other game-winners during the team's 11 victories.

The first North-South all-star game was played in Baltimore in 1940. The two rosters were comprised of Division I, II and III players until 1991 when the USILA split the event and created D-I/II and D-III games. Haverford's Grant Firestone played on the south's roster in the 2010 D-III game, an 18-11 north team victory in Baltimore.
