Haverford men's lacrosse welcomed the Iroquois Lacrosse Program to campus

HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Haverford College community took part in "A Weekend of Native American Culture and Sport". The weekend was sponsored by the Haverford College Department of Athletics, the Office of Multicultural Affairs, and the Center for Peace and Global Citizenship.

The festivities began on Friday afternoon with the showing and discussion of Shanti Thakur's documentary Circles: A Native Approach to Restorative Justice. The Iroquois Lacrosse Program (ILP), made up of high school students from the Six Nations, will arrived on campus later that night and spent the evening with the Haverford men's lacrosse team.

After having breakfast with the Fords Saturday morning, the lLP participated in a welcoming ceremony on the steps of Founders Hall. Then the ILP took an admissions tour of the Haverford campus.

The weekend concluded with a lacrosse game between the Fords and ILP. The ILP hung tough with their hosts, particularly in the second half, but it was the Fords winning the game 7-5. The two teams exchanged gifts at the conclusion of the match.
