Three from men's lacrosse named to North-South Classic roster

HAVERFORD, Pa. – Haverford College seniors Joe Banno, Alexander Douglas and Dillon Hamill have been selected for the Division III South roster of the 71st-annual North-South men's lacrosse senior all-star game to be hosted by Harvard University on Friday, May 25 at Harvard Stadium in Cambridge, Mass.

The D-III game will take place at 3 p.m. and will be followed by the D-I/II game at approximately 5:30 p.m.

Banno and Hamill were recently voted second-team All-Centennial Conference players.

A three-time all-conference goalkeeper, Banno closed out his four years between the pipes for Haverford with a record 41 career wins and a program-best 7.89 goals-against career average. His 706 saves are third-most on the program's all-time list. During the 2012 season Banno compiled a 5-8 record registering 10 saves in five games including a season-high 17 in the schedule's opening game against No. 7 Stevenson University. Banno's 13 wins in the 2011 campaign are a single-season Haverford record.

Hamill was also a second-team all-conference player in 2010 and 2011. A long-pole midfielder for the Fords, he was a defensive force in 2012 registering 40 caused turnovers, leading the team for the third consecutive year. Hamill accumulated three or more caused turnovers in 10 of 12 games during his senior year including a season-best six during Haverford's 9-8 win over Franklin & Marshall College. In the Fords' win over Ursinus Hamill picked up four ground balls and won 6-of-7 at the faceoff dot.

Douglas was one of only two players to start all 14 games for Haverford in the 2012 season. His 22 caused turnovers -- a single-season career high -- were third-most on the team and he was part of a defense that caused 11.14 turnovers per game, second-highest within the league.

The South squad will be coached by Dickinson College's Dave Webster while Dave Campbell of Middlebury College will lead the North roster.
