Season Review: Men's lacrosse takes on national schedule

Signature win: The Ford used a six-goal outburst that spanned the end of the second and start of the third periods to upset 15th-ranked Franklin & Marshall College, 11-10, on April 20. Geoff Geppert tallied a game-high three goals to pace the attack while Jack Bodine, Christian Clay and Henry Millson added two goals apiece. Millson's second goal of the final period proved to be the game winner. After the Diplomats had pulled within one in the final minute, Scott Chanelli won a crucial faceoff to help extinguish any thoughts of a comeback by the hosts. Eric Caliendo helped fuel Haverford's fifth consecutive one-goal victory over the Dips with nine saves including seven in the second half as the Fords built a lead they would never relinquish.

Season notes: Haverford closed the season with a 3-1 record over its final four games … The Fords played against seven nationally-ranked teams in 2013 including four contests on the treacherous Centennial slate … In LaxPower.com rankings, Haverford finished second on the strength of schedule index and 33rd in the computer ratings … Scott Chanelli forced a league-best 47 caused turnovers and scooped up 86 ground balls, which was fourth-most in the conference. Chanelli's mark of 3.36 caused turnovers per game ranked fifth in NCAA Division III. The defender's career total of 182 ground balls is 10th-most in program history … Christian Clay ranked sixth in the conference in points (49) and tied for eighth in goals (30).

Looking ahead:The Fords return leading scorer Christian Clay (30 goals, 19 assists) and three other double-figure goal scorers – Jack Bodine (21), Geoff Geppert (18) and Dan LoSardo (16). Haverford benefited greatly from the presence of Scott Chanelli and Sage Disch on defense last season and coach Colin Bathory will look to several returners who gained valuable time alongside the pair to give returning netminder Eric Caliendo continued presence in front of the goal. Caliendo aims to build off an impressive freshman campaign between the pipes that included six double-digit save performances. Haverford has a talented core in place to once again be a factor in the Centennial Conference playoff picture.
