Eric Caliendo Selected as Centennial Conference Sportsmanship Award Recipient

Centennial Conference Release

HAVERFORD, Pa. – Eric Caliendo has been recognized as one of three Centennial Conference Sportsmanship Award Recipients for the 2015-16 academic year. The Centennial Conference Student-Athlete Advisory Committee is responsible for picking the award recipients. Caliendo earned the honor alongside Gettysburg senior women's basketball player Jessica Porter and Ursinus' Football Team.

This award honors one male, one female, and one team who have distinguished themselves through demonstrated acts of sportsmanship and ethical behavior. They were selected from a pool of student-athletes nominated by the Conference's eleven member institutions and will now be placed on the ballot for the NCAA Division III National Sportsmanship Award this summer.

Caliendo was selected as the Centennial Conference male nominee for his positive impact on the Haverford community through his volunteer work and activities, especially his involvement with the Joe Schwartz 3K Run Walk. This event is put on by Haverford's strength & conditioning coach to raise money for ALS. To do something special to raise awareness of the race and ALS, Caliendo also created a video to publicize the event.

The 2016 second-team All-Centennial Conference goalkeeper for the Fords helped the team post its second lowest goals against average in program history. Caliendo was twice named to the Centennial Conference's All-Sportsmanship Team for men's lacrosse and was a three-time representative on the conference's academic honor roll.
