LANCASTER, Pa. – The Haverford College men's lacrosse team suffered its first setback in Centennial Conference play on Saturday afternoon. The Fords (6-4, 2-1 CC) fell behind early as host Franklin & Marshall (7-2, 3-0 CC) scored the first seven goals of the game before settling in for an 11-3 victory. The Diplomats came into the game receiving votes in the latest USILA national poll.

Haverford created a number of chances in the attacking end as shots favored Franklin & Marshall by just a 32-29 advantage. However, Diplomats goalie Scott Hatch stopped 66 percent of the shots he faced to help his team secure the win. Franklin & Marshall was fueled once again by the top two point producers in the conference as Sean Rogers and Kevin Mollihan each tallied hat tricks.

The Fords stopped Franklin & Marshall's big run to start the contest as Patrick Girard and Stephen DeLeo found the back of the net to close out the first half. Girard and DeLeo both have nine goals for the year. Garret Trucksess set up the goal by DeLeo with his second assist of the season. Haverford's final goal of the day came with time winding down in the third quarter as Ben Frost added to his team leading total with his 14th goal of the season.

In the crease, reigning Centennial Conference Player of the Week Dylan Slack made 10 saves on the afternoon. Haverford also scooped up 28 ground balls as a team with Girard's five pickups leading the way. Chandler Todd, Kevin Goshorn, Frost, and Slack also collected four ground balls. Justin Telleria led the team with two caused turnovers on the afternoon.

Men's lacrosse will have a full week of preparation before its next road trip as the Fords travel to No. 7 Dickinson next Saturday, April 8. That contest is set for a noon faceoff. Dickinson and Franklin & Marshall are the lone remaining unbeaten teams in Centennial Conference play.
