Centennial Conference Postseason Honors Announced for Men's Lacrosse

HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Centennial Conference released its all-conference teams and Haverford was well represented with four All-CC performers, the conference coach of the year, and a representative on the all-sportsmanship team.

Long-stick middie Max Ellis earned the first all-conference recognition of his career with his second-team recognition. The senior was one of five players who started all 15 games for the Fords. Ellis led Haverford in ground balls (58) and caused turnovers (35), while also taking over the as the primary face-off man late in the season. He caused a turnover during 10 different contests, including a season-best five takeaways during victories against Eastern and Roger Williams. Additionally, he forced five turnovers at Dickinson. Ellis collected multiple ground balls on 14 occasions, with four or more ground balls in 10 games. Ellis ranked third in the conference in caused turnovers while has ground ball total was also among the top 10 players in conference contests. He caps his career with the second most caused turnovers during in school history.

Chandler Todd earned second-team All-Centennial Conference recognition for the second time in his career. The senior was also recognized as an All-Centennial Conference performer at the end of his sophomore season in 2016. Todd started all 15 games for the Fords, ranking second only to Ellis in ground balls (47) and caused turnovers. He collected multiple ground balls during 13 contests, including a season-high seven pickups during the win against Washington College. He added two or more caused turnovers in eight different games, with a season-best four coming in the victory over Stockton. Todd's caused turnovers also ranked among the top five players in the conference while his ground ball total sat just outside of the top 10. His 58 career caused turnovers are the fifth most in school history.

Dylan Slack was the Fords' third second-team All-Centennial Conference performer. As a junior, Slack was the last line for one of the toughest defenses in the Centennial Conference. He started all 15 games and was the goalie of record during each contest. Slack stopped 59 percent of the shots he faced, making 173 total saves. He finished the year with an 8.22 GAA and ranked third on the team with 45 ground balls. Slack was called on to make 10 or more saves during 10 different games. He made a season-high 20 saves during a 9-3 win against Stockton. In conference contests, his performances were highlighted by a 15 save effort during the 9-7 win against Washington College. He denied another 17 shots on goal during the 6-4 win against Ursinus on Senior Day. His 96 saves in conference games were the most in the conference, while his overall GAA was the second best among his conference peers.

Ben Frost was an honorable mention All-Centennial Conference selection as a first line middie. He played in all 15 games, tying for the team lead with 21 goals. Frost held the outright team lead in man-up goals (4), shots (86), and shots on goal (52). He finished the year with 25 total points. Frost recorded an offensive point during each contest, scoring a goal in every game but one. Highlighting his conference performances, where he scored 12 goals, Frost finished with a hat trick plus an assist against Franklin & Marshall. He also scored two goals against Washington College, Ursinus, and during the Centennial Conference semifinal game at Gettysburg. His most notable goal was most likely the game-winner against Swarthmore that sent Haverford to the Centennial Conference Tournament.

Brendan Dawson was named the Centennial Conference Coach of the Year after guiding Haverford to its first postseason appearance since the 2011 season. Dawson earned coach of the year honors at Haverford in just his second year with the program. He was previously named coach of the year on two separate occasions at Widener.

A four-year member of the men's lacrosse team, Justin Brendel was named to the Centennial Conference All-Sportsmanship Team. Brendel appeared in all 15 games for the Fords and ranked third on the team with 10 caused turnovers. Brendel finished his senior campaign with 16 ground balls, coming away with a season-high three ground balls and two caused turnovers during home victories against Stockton and Washington College.

Men's lacrosse won seven games during the 2018 season. The team's seventh win of the year came in the final minutes against Swarthmore to send the Fords to the Centennial Conference semifinals where they eventually were defeated by top-seeded Gettysburg, 7-5. Haverford made its seventh trip to the Centennial Conference Tournament this past season, with a string of six successive appearances during the 2006-11 seasons.
