Ben Frost Selected to USILA Honorable Mention All-America Team

USILA release

HAVERFORD, Pa. – The awards continue to pour in for Ben Frost as the Fords' standout midfielder was named a United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) honorable mention All-American. Adding another major award to his athletic resume, Frost has also been named a two-time Centennial Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Year, Haverford's William W. Ambler '45 Scholar, and a two-time All-Centennial Conference selection.

Frost's selection marks the 23rd time in program history that a men's lacrosse player has been selected to the All-America team. Twenty-one of those recipients have come since the start of 2007 season. The Fords' middie is the team's first All-American since PJ Jackson '17 earned third-team All-America status as a defender during his senior season.

One of four players who started all 15 games for the Fords this season, Frost tallied new career highs in every offensive category. He led the team in shots (98) and shots on goal (54), while ranking second in goals (24), and fourth in both assists (8) and points (32). Scoring 14 of his 24 goals in Centennial Conference play, the Fords' senior finished with a goal in 12 of the 15 games. Highlighted by his play against conference foes, he recorded an offensive point during each of the final 11 games, scoring multiple goals seven times during that stretch.

His highest individual total came when he scored a season-high four goals against Franklin & Marshall. Frost's highest point contest came with a three goal, four assist effort during Haverford's win against Gwynedd Mercy where he also scored the game-winning goal. He also registered hat tracks against Randolph-Macon and McDaniel, while scoring multiple goals against Kenyon, Muhlenberg, and Washington College.

A chemistry major, Frost was named Haverford College's William W. Ambler '45 Award recipient for having the highest cumulative grade point average among all senior student-athletes. He became just the 11th different player in the history of the Centennial Conference to earn CC Scholar-Athlete of the Year honors as both a junior and senior in any sport and was the overall men's winner this year. A three-time honoree on the Centennial Conference Academic Honor Roll, Frost recently earned CoSIDA honors for the second straight season and has already been named to the Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Team in each his first two seasons eligible for this award as those honorees have not yet been announced for the 2019 season.

The 2019 Haverford College men's lacrosse season was highlighted by a pair of top 10 victories on the road against Dickinson and Ursinus which kept the Fords in the playoff hunt right up until the final day of the regular season. Those two victories represented just the second time in program history that the Fords have beaten two top 10 teams in the same season. The only other occasion came in 2010 when the Fords captured the program's first Centennial Conference Championship. The Fords played the ninth-toughest schedule in all of Division III this season and now have 11 wins against top 10 teams in school history.
