Abraham, Richards Take Home CC Weekly Awards For Men's Lacrosse

HAVERFORD, Pa. - The Haverford College men's lacrosse team has received two Centennial Conference awards following their memorable win over No. 19 Ursinus on Saturday. Sophomore attacker Matt Richards has been named the Centennial Conference Offensive Player of the Week, while sophomore goalkeeper Jacob Abraham has been named the Centennial Conference Defensive Player of the Week.

Richards, of Middletown, R.I. played a crucial role in Haverford's 14-9 win over Ursinus, scoring five goals and providing an assist. Four of his five goals came in the second half of the game when Haverford secured its first ranked win since the 2019 season. This was a massive achievement for the team and has certainly given them a boost of confidence as they look ahead to the rest of the season.

Abraham, from Tarrytown, N.Y. was instrumental in securing the win for Haverford as well, making 17 saves in the game and recording a season-best save percentage of 65.4 percent. He currently ranks second in the Centennial Conference in save percentage, demonstrating his exceptional skills as a goalkeeper so far this season in a breakout turn between the pipes. 

Men's Lacrosse will look to make it two in a row on Saturday, April 15 hosting McDaniel for a 3:30 p.m. opening face-off on Swan Field as Centennial Conference play rolls on in earnest with less than a month remaining in the regular season slate.
