Men's Lacrosse Falls at No. 9 Dickinson, 18-5

CARLISLE, Pa. - The Haverford College men's lacrosse team (5-9, 3-4 CC) was unable to register a third consecutive ranked win, as No. 9 Dickinson (12-3, 6-1 CC) took an 18-5 win on a rainy, windy day at Biddle Field.

Andrew Arth had two goals for the Fords, while Jacob Abraham made 10 saves between the pipes before first-year Peter Del Col got the final six minutes of change in relief duty.  Eric Dahlberg continued a strong week with four ground balls. Jason Borsari, Antonin Hoppman-Salario, and Simon Dickinson each had 10 caused turnovers.

Haverford notched 17-of-18 clears and scooped 30 ground balls. Teddy Carlin and Drew Buck took turns at the X with Carlin grabbing five FO wins and Buck adding six.

After the start of the contest was pushed back due to inclement weather and lightning in the early, Dickinson posted two early goals to take a 2-0 advantage. Tyler Vendetti found Arth for Haverford's opening tally, trimming the lead back to just a single goal.

A 4-0 Dickinson run gave the hosts some breathing room, but Jonathan Moon founded the back of the net with an unassisted tally that came with 8:30 left in the first half. The goal was the last of the half for either team as Haverford displayed a strong defensive effort to deny the Red Devils any designs on pulling away early.

After the intermission, Dickinson extended its run with a pair of goals, including one from Ben Tomick. Tyler Vendetti scored with 10:38 to play, as Haverford was back within five, but Dickinson scored five of the next six to take a 13-4 lead. Dahlberg tallied in that stretch, with the assist off the stick of Reid Tietjen

Arth scored one more tally with 13:40 to go in the fourth, but Dickinson closed the game on a 9-1 run to wrestle control of the CC contest. James Isaacson was the catalyst for the Red Devils offensively, while John McKee added 11 ground balls. Evan Karetsos notched four caused turnovers for the visitors while Chris Brandau added 11 saves in 52 minutes before giving way to Patrick Scarborough.

In a testament to its strong play through the month of April, Haverford remains in the hunt for a Centennial Conference playoff berth. The Fords will also have extra incentive with crucial Hood Trophy points on the line as the Fords host No. 20 Swarthmore on Saturday, April 29 at 3 p.m. The contest is also Senior Day for Haverford.
