Centennial Conference Reveals 2024 Men’s Lacrosse Preseason Poll

Full Centennial Conference Release

HAVERFORD, Pa. - The Haverford College Men's Lacrosse team has been picked eighth in the annual preseason Centennial Conference Men's Lacrosse poll, the league office announced this afternoon.

On the sidelines this season for Haverford will be Head Coach Richard Carrington, who is in his first season with the Fords. Carrington joined Haverford from Amherst College, where he served as the defensive coordinator and assistant coach for the Mammoths for the past two seasons.

Carrington and the Fords are poised to reach the Centennial Conference tournament for the eighth time in school history, and the first since the 2018 campaign.

Among those to watch for the 2024 season are junior goalkeeper Jacob Abraham and junior defender Jason Borsari. Leading the Centennial Conference in saves just a season ago, Abraham earned second team All-Centennial Conference honors, while Borsari took home an honorable mention nod at year's end.

On the offensive side of the ball, sophomore Reid Tietjen returns for season number two after pacing the Scarlet and Black in assists with 20 last season. He'll be joined by junior Matt Richards who contributed 21 goals and 12 assists in 2023.

In what is widely known as an extremely competitive lacrosse conference that consists of three ranked teams in the latest Inside Lacrosse poll, No. 5 Dickinson was selected first in the Centennial Conference preseason poll. The back-to-back defending Centennial Conference champions, Dickinson collected seven first place votes and 63 voting points in the poll.

No. 9 Gettysburg was tabbed second in the preseason poll, picking up one first place vote and 55 voting points. No. 15 Swarthmore was chosen third in the poll, claiming the final first place vote and 53 voting points. Franklin & Marshall (fourth, 39 points) and Muhlenberg (fifth, 32 points) round out the projected Centennial Conference playoff teams for 2024.

Ursinus was predicted sixth with 28 points, while Washington College (seventh, 29 points), Haverford (eighth, 19 points) and McDaniel (ninth, eight points) wrap up the Centennial Conference Men's Lacrosse projection poll for the 2024 season.

Haverford College Men's Lacrosse open up their season on February 17, as they hit the road to take on (RV) Cabrini for the final time at 3 p.m.

The Centennial Conference Championship First Round commences on April 30, with the semifinals taking place on May 3, before the highly-anticipated Championship game on May 5.
