HAVERFORD, Pa. - The Haverford College men's lacrosse team (6-4, 2-0 CC) secured its third consecutive win on Wednesday night under the Swan Field lights, claiming a 16-7 victory over the Shoremen of Washington College (3-6, 1-1 CC). This win marked Haverford's first triumph over Washington College since the 2018 season and equals the program's largest margin of victory against the Shoremen. Previously, Haverford defeated WAC 19-10 during the 2011 season.

Haverford's multi-faceted attack was led by hat-tricks from Jonathan Moon, Evan Wolpert, and Reid Tietjen, with Will Graves also contributing two goals. Matt Richards scored in the fourth quarter, achieving his 100th career point in the process, while Philip Passalaqua, Danny Hoehler, and D'Andre Chaney also scored for the Fords.

Jacob Abraham once again demonstrated his prowess between the pipes, making 20 saves and collecting four ground balls. Teddy Carlin excelled at the face-off X, winning 18 of 27 attempts and securing 12 ground balls. Ronan West contributed seven ground balls and caused a game-high three turnovers.

The Fords opened the scoring just seconds into the game, with Ronan West grabbing the ground ball off the opening faceoff and sprinting down the field for the opening goal. This quick strike set the tone for a 5-1 Fords run in the first quarter, leaving the Shoremen shellshocked.

Following a goal from Luke Brennan early in the second quarter, the Fords continued to capitalize on their offensive opportunities. They went on a 5-0 run, with goals from Wolpert and Tietjen followed by consecutive goals from Moon and Wolpert, leaving the score at 7-1. In a defensively oriented third quarter, the Fords added two goals, courtesy of Chaney and Moon, extending their lead to nine at 12-3.

Although Washington College began the fourth quarter with a quick 2-0 spurt, goals from Richards and Wolpert, followed by strikes from Tietjen and Graves, propelled the Fords on a 4-1 run, securing a 10-goal cushion at the 6:53 mark.

Haverford dominated in ground balls, leading 51-29, and outshot Washington 41-38. They also had a stellar performance in clears, going 27-for-30, and capitalized on both of their man-up situations. Cam Carrigan led the visitors with two goals and two assists.

The game served as Haverford's annual Faculty and Staff Appreciation Night, with the senior class honoring professors and staff members from across the college during a halftime ceremony.

Next up, the Fords will face No. 11 Gettysburg on Saturday, March 30, in another conference showdown, aiming to secure a third consecutive CC victory. The matchup with the Bullets is scheduled for 1 p.m. at Shirk Stadium.
