Two second half goals propel men’s soccer to victory at Gwynedd-Mercy, 2-0

GWYNEDD VALLEY, Pa. – Two second half goals gave the Haverford College men's soccer team a 2-0 victory at Gwynedd-Mercy College on Wednesday evening.

Edward Gracia's goal in the 60th minute broke the scoreless tie. In the 82nd minute Julien Calas fed Alejandro Rettig y Martinez to give Haverford (3-3) some insurance. The goal was Rettig y Martinez's  second of the season.

The Fords outshot Gwynedd-Mercy (3-5) 17-12 in the contest and had 12 corner kicks to just six for the Golden Griffins.

Jamey Applegate made seven saves to record his third shutout of the season. Mike Leonard made 13 stops in the losing effort for Gwynedd-Mercy.

Haverford travels to Baltimore, Md. on Saturday to take No. 18 Johns Hopkins University at 7 p.m.
