Men’s soccer suffers 1-0 loss to Widener to open season

CHESTER, Pa. – A goal by Widener University's Dan Lorenzet in the 51st minute was the only scoring in Tuesday's season opener between the Pride and the Haverford College men's soccer team. Lorenzet snuck his shot past Haverford goalkeeper Jamey Applegate just inside the left post for the 1-0 victory.

Despite the score, the difference was the total shots taken. Widener (1-0) attempted 12 while Haverford (0-1) took just three. Three separate Fords attempted shots, but only Chris Dioguardi and Dan Garfing landed ones on goal.

In just his third career start, Applegate made three saves on four shots. Hamed Correa made two saves for the Pride.

Haverford is in action again on Monday when they host Penn State-Harrisburg at 4 p.m. on Walton Field.
