Men's soccer falls to No. 18 Blue Jays

BALTIMORE, Md. - The Haverford College men's soccer team dropped a Centennial Conference match Saturday night under heavy rains at Johns Hopkins University, falling to the No. 18 Blue Jays by a 3-0 score.

Hopkins (8-2, 1-1) got an early goal in the 11th minute then doubled their lead when a Haverford defender took to the sky on a high, arching free kick into the Fords' box, accidentally heading the ball into the net. The Blue Jays closed out their scoring with a third goal in the 25th minute.

The Fords (3-4, 0-2) outshot Hopkins in the second half but couldn't solve Blue Jays' goalie Ravi Gill who picked up the victory with the shutout.

Jamey Applegate registered five saves in goal for Haverford but saw his record drop to 3-4 with the loss.

The Fords, whose three victories have all come by 2-0 scores, will welcome Centennial rival Ursinus College to Walton Field for their next game Wednesday, Sept. 30.
