Second half barrage by Red Devils downs men’s soccer, 5-1

CARLISLE, Pa. – Dickinson College scored four goals in the final 15 minutes to down the Haverford College men's soccer team, 5-1, Wednesday evening. Just one goal was scored in the first 75 minutes, but in the final 15 minutes five goals were scored.

Dickinson (10-3-1, 4-2 CC) held a commanding 22-2 advantage in shots, with 14 coming in the second half. Haverford's (6-8, 1-5 CC) only two shots came from Tyler Freeman in the final 45 minutes.

A very quiet first half saw one goal, as Tyler Meade fed Thomas Parkinson six minutes in. In the second half Dickinson took nine shots before Nicolas Tierno scored on an assist from Mike Montross in the 76th minute. One minute and nine seconds later Tierno scored again, this time on an assist from Meade for a three-goal Red Devils lead.

Dickinson was not done yet. In the 84th minute Montross added on to the lead. Freeman got the Fords on the board in the 88th minute as Matt Gorski fed him for his team-leading seventh assist of the season. Brian Gilmartin tacked on another goal for the Red Devils 42 seconds later.

Jeff Rickert got the start in goal for the Scarlet and Black, making seven saves. Cody Hickok had a silent night for Dickinson with no saves.

Haverford returns home for the first time in 14 days Saturday when they host Muhlenberg College at noon.
