Men’s soccer blanks F&M, 2-0, to remain perfect in conference

HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Haverford College men's soccer team played a near flawless game to remain undefeated in the Centennial Conference with a 2-0 victory over visiting Franklin & Marshall College on a beautiful fall afternoon at Walton Field. The Fords held F&M to just one shot on goal while making the most of their opportunities on offense.

Haverford (5-1-2, 3-0-1 CC) took just six shots on goal for the game, but two found the back of the net. In the 30th minute David Robinson collected a rebound in the box to boot home the first goal. The Fords' second score came off a perfectly placed corner kick from Dan Garfing to Adam Morollo in the 50th minute. Morollo out leaped the scrum of players in front of the goal and sent a header in for his first collegiate goal.

Just like last Saturday against Johns Hopkins, HC's defense did not allow its opponents many opportunities inside the 18-yard line. F&M (4-3-2, 1-1-2 CC) tallied 11 shots, but only one found its way on goal.

Jamey Applegate was credited with the win (5-1-2) and his fourth shutout of the season. Zack Zamek (4-3-1) suffered the loss for the Diplomats, making four saves.

This win marks the Fords' first over F&M since a 2-1 victory in 2003. Saturday was also the third time HC has shut out the Diplomats in the existence of the Centennial Conference.
