Brady resigns as Haverford College’s men’s soccer head coach

HAVERFORD, Pa. – Haverford College has announced the resignation of men's soccer head coach Bill Brady to accept a position at the Haverford School, effective July 20.

In 2010, Brady, who earned the Centennial Conference coach of the year award, led Haverford to an 8-6-2 overall record—the team's first winning season since 2000. In conference play, the Fords posted a mark of 4-4-1, the first time the team finished at or above .500 against the Centennial since 2001 (5-4). During the 2010 season, Haverford fought then-No. 10 Johns Hopkins to a 0-0 draw. The draw marked the first time that the Fords earned a point off of the Blue Jays since 1995. The Fords earned the 2010 National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Team Ethics Award of Merit Bronze certificate.

Nurturing a culture of academic success In the classroom, 11 of Brady's players were named to the Centennial Conference Academic Honor Roll, five of whom were two-time honorees. Six players were tabbed for the NSCAA College Men Scholar All-East Region team. The Fords earned the 2009 and 2010 NSCAA College Team Academic Award. Brian Pepe-Mooney (2009) and Alejandro Rettig y Martinez (2010) have been voted onto Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area teams.

A search for Brady's full-time replacement will commence at the end of the 2011 season. Director of Athletics Wendy Smith '87 will name an interim coach for the upcoming season.
